Or

Get error - System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: User does not have permission to call this webmethod

This error typically occurs due to an issue with the configuration file for the package. This can be overcome by following the steps below on the SQL server where SIMS Services Manager is installed:

  1. Go to Start | Administrative Tools | Services and STOP the SIMS Services Manager Service.

  2. In C:\ProgramData\SIMS\SIMS Services Manager locate the relevant JSON file for the package:

    • B2B - Capita.SSM.B2BStudentService.Configuration.json

    • SIMS Online Services -capita.simslabs.clients.management.Configuration.json

    • Teacher App - capita.teacherapp.clients.Configuration.json

    • SIMS Data Exchange - SimsDataService.Package.Configuration.json

  3. Take a backup copy of the file, store this backup outside of C:\ProgramData\SIMS\SIMS Services Manager, and then delete the original.

  4. Go to Start | Administrative Tools | Services and START the SIMS Services Manager Service.

  5. Open SIMS Services Manager.

  6. Click the blue square next to the relevant package to bring up a list of configured schools.

  7. Click the blue Actions button next to the desired school. A pop-up screen should open up displaying the school's settings.

  8. If applicable, re-enter any relevant activation keys/client ID & secret/thumbprint for the package. These configuration keys can typically be retrieved via the admin portal of the corresponding product, with the exception of B2B (which does not require a key) and Teacher App. For Teacher App, please raise a case with OSMIS requesting the school’s Teacher App activation key.

  9. Click "Save", this should then recreate the JSON file in C:\ProgramData\SIMS\SIMS Services Manager.
