Ports

Ensure that the necessary ports are open and accessible. This includes ports for SQL Server and any other services that SSM needs to communicate with.

  • SQL Server ports can be found via SQL Server Configuration Manager > SQL Server Network Configuration > Protocols for Training > Right Click TCP/IP > IP Addresses TAB > Scroll down to “TCP Dynamic Ports”

  • ports 50000 and 50001 must be free for users to be able to see the UI via their Browser.

NOTE SSM and the packages within run on ports 50000 and 50001. SSM will try and take ownership of these ports on startup, but on occasion, other applications or services on the server may take ownership of the ports preventing SSM from running. If this is the case an exception may need to be set to exclude these ports from the listening pool to prevent these services from taking ownership.

SSM Services

Ensure SSM services are running as NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE

SSM Installation Directory

The user should have full control over the directory where SSM is installed. This allows SSM to update and manage its files properly.

  • C:\ProgramData\SIMS\SIMS Services Manager

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS Services Manager\

SIMS Online Services Client

If you’re using the SIMS Online Services Client, ensure it is configured with the correct Client ID and secret, and that the user has access to the necessary configuration files.

The Client ID and Secret can be found in the administrator portal of the service and should be noted should they be need to be re-entered
