Schools are advised to apply the summer 2026 release of SIMS (version 7.230) where they are to make use of PI calculations in SIMS - remember that exams workstation updates need to be run with everyone out of exams and with local administrator permissions otherwise errors will be triggered in the software

Important information on any required patches will be posted here - all clear at the moment!

Patches which might be required in certain circumstances and are available on request include:

  • Description

    If you have cloned the Performance Year for 2026 via PI Setup and you go to Manage Performance Indicators in a Summer 2025 Season, you may find that the QN's from 2025 have not cloned across to 2026. In 2026, if you click Search and no QN's show, the Clone process was not successful, but you cannot run Clone again.

    Cause

    The issue is caused by CKD not being run in the previous Season before cloning the QN's.

    Resolution

    Contact the Helpdesk and request Patch 28155. Before applying the patch, please follow the advice below (Step 1 must be done before applying the patch)

    1. Go to Tools | Examinations | PI Setup | Change the Season to the June 2023 by double clicking this (Or your Summer 2023 Exams Season) | Once done, close this screen and go to Tools | Examinations | Edit PI Data | Run CKD for the 2023 Season

    2. Make sure all users are logged out of SIMS and apply the patch

    3. Log into SIMS and go to Tools | Examinations | PI Setup | Set the Season to June 2024 (Or your Summer 2024 Exams Season) and at the bottom click Clone which will now clone the 2023 QN's into 2024

  • To fix this issue you must apply Patch 22967 (please mail support@osmis.co.uk to request this patch). This will import the 2016 Performance Measures and allow you to Clone from 2016 to 2017. See steps below:

    1. Once the patch has been applied, you will need to log into SIMS and go to Tools - Examinations - PI Setup, ensure the 2017 Summer Season is selected (You can select this by double clicking on it) and then clone from 2016 to 2017 at the bottom of the screen

    2. Then close this screen and go to Tools - Examinations - Manage Performance Indicators and add a QN by clicking New - Add new QN. (Please note, you only need to add 1 QN at this stage, and it can be ANY QN)

    3. Once complete, you can close this screen go back to Tools - Examinations - PI Setup, select the 2018 Season and then Clone from 2017 to 2018

    4. Once done, you will need to repeat this process on Step 3 of Cloning the Performance Measures Year until you are up to the most current Exam Season

    5. When complete, you can then go back to Tools | Examinations | Manage Performance Indicators and add all the QN's the school are doing in the current Performance Measures year in your current Summer Season

    **Please note, if you do not have Open Summer 2016 / 2017 / 2018 / 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 Seasons, you will need to create these in Exams Organiser via Tools | School Setup | Seasons. If any of the Seasons have been Closed, these Seasons cannot be re-opened but they can be re-created. You will need to create a new Season Pattern under Tools | School Setups | Season Pattern, including the Summer months. Once done, you will need to re-create the Summer Seasons (With a different name, as it will not save with the same name as the previous Summer Season) which are not Open and link these to the new Season Pattern**
