Remote Backup Service

It is essential that the school has a regular good backup. In the event of theft, fire, virus, system failure or corruption your data can be restored.

OSMIS is please to offer schools Redstor Backup for Schools. It is a fully automated, online backup and data recovery service which simplifies the management of backups for schools. The service is also ESS’s only approved service for protecting SIMS data.

The Redstor Backup for Schools automatically protects SIMS and other identified data residing on your school’s network according to retention policies and schedules set by the school. Data is compressed, encrypted and sent to one of the secure state of the art UK data centres before it is replicated to a second secure Redstor data centre assuring the data is safely offsite for disaster recovery.

When data recovery is required, users can simply select the data to restore using an intuitive interface.

OSMIS monitors daily reports of backup performance and will pro-actively investigate and resolve any failures, in consultation with school staff where required.

Assumptions / Pre-Requisites

OSMIS will assist with the initial confiiguration of the solution and provide guidance on how to administer the solution.

As school staff can use the console to select folders and file types for inclusion within the backup set, the ongoing maintenance of the backup selection will be a matter for the school.
