Remote Upgrade Service

We are pleased to offer schools a remote upgrade service.

SIMS, FMS, Discover and associated systems need three scheduled updates per year and may also need system patches applied to address late changes, to address software defects and to correct issues with your particular school’s data.

This service seeks to ensure that your school’s SIMS, FMS and associated products are kept up to date in line with requirements and good practice.

What we will do

  • We will notify you of the availability of any required release or patch.

  • Secondary schools and others which have elected to specify the timing of the application of a release will complete the form here to specify when the release is to be applied.

  • In the case of other schools we will write to notify you when the release will be applied - this will generally be out of hours in order to minimise disruption to users.

Assumptions / Pre-Requisites

  • The school will liaise with their technical support provider to ensure that OSMIS is provided with an account with local administrator privileges to the machine acting as the SIMS server - as is required to apply system updates.

  • The school will ensure that unattended remote access is available to OSMIS via Team Viewer.

  • The school and their technical support provider will retain responsibility for ensuring that consequent SIMS updates are delivered to workstation level.
