Please note that all schools now use SOLUS 3 to deploy updates and patches to the machine acting as the school’s SIMS server and you should refer to the SOLUS 3 section for matters relating to the management of SOLUS 3

It is our experience that the use of SOLUS 3 requires a great deal of understanding and management and that schools are best advised to use the SOLUS 2 mechanisms described here to manage the deployment of updates to workstations. This is accomplished by setting SOLUS 3 on the server to download and extract a suite of files in the \sims\setups folder which are then run as required and triggered by SIMSLoad.exe being run was part of the normal workstation log in process.

LIMITS OF SUPPORT

We at OSMIS have more experience than most in the installation and configuration of SIMS servers and workstations and manage installation and upgrades across hundreds of sites.

Many factors (including physical and network configuration, hardware maintenance, access rights, group policy, anti-virus, internet connections and so on and over which we have no control) can impact the good running of the system and whilst we will always be there to support you or your nominated technical representative they should ensure that they have referred to the documentation linked here and are familiar with the technical aspects of the MIS.
