Automation Error when accessing Exams Organiser

 

Unable to log into Exams Organiser 

Validation error : Automation Error

Happening on One/Multiple workstation(s)

 This error occurs when there has been an issue installing SIMS. This is usually caused by Exams Organiser still being run in the background when the upgrade has occurred. 

When re-installing SIMS, please ensure that Exams Organiser is closed on all workstations, if needs be check task manager to ensure that the Exams process has ended as well.

1. Uninstall SIMS Infrastructure (if available) - via Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

2. Uninstall both Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile & Extended - via Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

3. Rename the local SIMS .net folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS.NET to OLDSIMS.NET and the 'My SIMS Documents' directory within the My Documents folder to 'OLDMy SIMS Documents'.

4. Delete the local C:\Windows\SIMS.ini file.

5. Reboot the machine.

6. Re-install the full version of Microsoft .NET Framework 4, which includes both Client Profile and Extended. A standalone installer for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 can be downloaded from the following Microsoft site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=17718

7. Please then run SIMSInst.exe from your SIMS setups directory, tick the 'This computer will be used as a SIMS workstation' check box and complete the installation.
