Patches 23876 and 23539 are included within the summer release of SIMS and are therefore not required

Science Trilogy Double Awards in Manage PI

The KS4 points scores for Combined science in Manage Performance Indictor are incorrect.  In order for the PI results to be calculated correctly the settings should be as pictured below:

(a)    There is a tick in the Combined Science Ebacc check box

(b)    The KS4 points should be 99 = 9, 98 = 8.5, 88 = 8, 87 = 7.5 down to 11 = 1, U = 0.

(c)    The KS4 Size equivalence is 1

(d)    The KS4 Standard Pass Equivalence is 1 down to 44

(e)    The KS4 Pass Equivalence is 1 down as far as 11

Referring to the DfE KS4 2018 Performance Points spreadsheet, the following QNs are Science Trilogy Double Awards:

  • 60186124 Pearson Edexcel Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Combined Science
  • 60186872 OCR Level 1/2 GCSE (9-1) in Combined Science A (Gateway Science)

Please ensure this is completed before calculating the PI on results day.

The key to a successful and stress-free download day is to ensure that your system is prepared to meet your needs. Please refer to the Exams Results Day Survival Kit to support your work.

Which version of SIMS do I need to be on?

Schools making use of SIMS to analyse and report on qualifications data need to apply the Summer update (version 7.182) prior to the download of results. Whilst the summer updated delivers a shedload of improvements, schools not making use of PI functionality in SIMS do not need to apply the update.

Are there any patches I might need to apply?

Capita continue to release patches to correct issues which boards may refer to - a digest of available patches is available here. Whilst the requirement for the patches will vary from school to school, we have authorised all patches listed here for application in schools.

Support on Download Days

The OSMIS support desk will be staffed from 7:30 on 15th and 22nd August. Schools are asked to mail the desk on support@osmis.co.uk with details of any issue and to supply a direct dial contact number – we will call back within the hour.

As ever, if there is anything we can do to support you through the examinations process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

With best wishes for a smooth and successful exams day
